Bear Time (MCHS)

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 20, 2026

The short version: Bear Time does not require an account and does not collect, sell, or use personal information for advertising or tracking. App preferences remain on the user’s device.

Who operates Bear Time

Bear Time (MCHS) is an independent personal project created and operated by Benjamin Brigham under the personal brand timeStamp Design. Unless the school district expressly determines otherwise, Bear Time is not an official application of Maranacook Community High School or the school district.

About the app

Bear Time provides countdowns and schedule information based on the Maranacook Community High School calendar and bell schedules. It helps users understand the current scheduled event, the time remaining, upcoming transitions, and the day’s remaining schedule. Bear Time operates without user accounts or access to student information systems.

Information we do not collect

Bear Time does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal information. In particular, the app does not collect:

Bear Time does not require users to create an account or submit personal information.

Information stored on the device

Users may select a lunch period and create optional custom labels for scheduled events. These preferences are stored locally on the user’s device to provide the requested app functionality. They are not transmitted to Benjamin Brigham, timeStamp Design, the school, or another third party.

The developer cannot access these locally stored preferences. A user may change custom labels and lunch preferences inside the app. Deleting the app and its locally stored data removes them from the device. Operating-system backups may retain app data according to the user’s device and backup settings.

Schedule information and GitHub

Bear Time uses public school calendar and bell-schedule information to calculate and display events. It does not access student-specific schedules, grades, attendance records, assignments, or other education records.

The app retrieves schedule data from a project repository hosted by GitHub. Bear Time does not attach a personal profile, app-specific user identifier, lunch selection, custom event label, or student record to these requests.

Like other internet services, GitHub may receive standard network information, such as an IP address, that is necessary to receive and respond to a request. GitHub processes that information under its own privacy practices. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Data transmission, sharing, and sale

Bear Time has no developer-operated account system, remote user database, advertising service, or analytics service. The developer does not sell personal information and does not share personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

External links and Apple services

Bear Time may include links to websites associated with the app, its developer, its designer, or credited contributors. No personal information is transmitted to those websites before a user chooses to open a link. After a link opens, the destination website and the user’s web browser operate under their own privacy practices.

Apple may independently process App Store, TestFlight, purchase, device, diagnostic, or crash information as part of providing its platforms and services, depending on the user’s settings and Apple’s policies. Bear Time does not add its own analytics or tracking service. Information processed by Apple is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Children and student privacy

Bear Time is intended to be useful to members of a school community, including students. It is designed not to request or collect personal information from children or students, and it does not access education records. If the app’s functionality changes in a way that involves personal or student information, its privacy practices and this policy will be reviewed and updated before that functionality is released.

Data retention and deletion

Because the developer does not collect or receive personal information through Bear Time, the developer maintains no personal user records to retain or delete. Locally stored preferences remain on the user’s device until the user changes them, deletes the app and its data, or the operating system removes them. Information retained in a device backup is governed by the user’s backup provider and settings.

Security

Bear Time minimizes privacy and security risk by avoiding user accounts, personal-data collection, developer-operated user databases, advertising, and behavioral analytics. No method of software distribution or device storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but Bear Time is designed to avoid receiving or maintaining personal user information.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be reviewed whenever Bear Time’s features, data practices, third-party components, or distribution methods change. Any revised policy will identify its effective date and will be made available through the app and this public webpage before or when the relevant changes take effect.
